Your chat is already the invitation

Your WhatsApp chat is where the two of you already spend the day: the good-morning message, the lunch photo, the "text me when you're home". A game fits right in. Start a playroom, tap Share or copy the link, and send it like any other message. Your partner taps it and the game opens in their browser. No app, no account, no "what's your username again?".
The link doesn't arrive bare, either. WhatsApp shows it as an invite card, with your name on it if you've set one: "Mia invited you to a playroom". Start from a game's page instead, with Create playroom and then Copy link, and the card names the game too: "Mia saved you a seat for Chess". That's much harder to leave on read than a plain URL.
A game for every gap in the day
Two minutes while they wait for the bus: a round of Tic-Tac-Toe or Connect Four, and the loser picks the next one.
The midnight rematch: Battleship was made for couples who argue about who's better at it. Hide your fleet, wait for the "how did you know?", go again.
A slow evening on two different sofas: Chess, Checkers or Backgammon if you want to think, Dominoes or Gin Rummy if you'd rather play tiles or cards. When a match ends, suggest the next game from the lobby. No new link needed.
Next to a WhatsApp call, not instead of it
On a voice call, keep talking and switch to the browser: the call carries on while you play. On a video call, put the call on one screen and the board on another, so you can see their face when your move lands.
No call? Every playroom has its own chat beside the board for the "no way" and the "rematch?". Your WhatsApp thread stays for everything else.
It works the same across the world or across town. Living apart? Our page on games for long-distance couples has ideas for the weekly call. This one is for the everyday: a weekend away, a late shift, both of you in bed scrolling. Send the link.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do we play inside WhatsApp?
No. WhatsApp just carries the link. One tap opens the game in the browser, on a phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to install.
What does my partner see when I send the link?
An invite card in the chat. With your name set and a game chosen, it reads “Mia saved you a seat for Chess”; without a name, “You're invited to a game of Chess”.
Can we play during a WhatsApp call?
Yes. The game runs in the browser, so the call keeps going: on the same phone for a voice call, or on a second screen for video.
Do we have to be online at the same time?
Yes, a playroom is live. Popping over to WhatsApp to reply is fine, as the match waits a couple of minutes, but it isn't built for one move a day.
Do we need accounts?
No. Neither of you signs up or downloads anything. Tap the link and you're in.
